Need for FloWell

Needs Statement

     The need for the FloWell 9000 in today’s cardiac function simulator market is centered around affordability and functionality. 

     Cardiac function simulators are very expensive, often priced at around $60,000, due to extensive technology and advanced pumps that are used for manufacturing the simulators. With such a hefty price tag, this puts a limit on companies able to use these devices for testing. Smaller companies or start-ups will often need to either send their devices to other companies for testing or take time to raise funds for testing equipment. Both of these options mean a delay in the development process of cardiovascular devices, which has a direct impact on patients with cardiovascular diseases.

     The FloWell 9000 utilizes simplified technology without jeopardizing hemodynamic accuracy, making it more affordable at a lower price of around $6,000. 

     In terms of functionality, the FloWell 9000 will be one of the few cardiac function simulators on the market that includes a temperature regulation system. This is important as it allows for fluid in the reservoir to be heated and maintained at body temperature for more accurate testing of silicon vasculatures. 

     With both affordability and functionality in mind, more companies will be able to conduct tests and move forward in product development. The FloWell 9000 aims to pave the way for the development of more life-saving cardiovascular devices.
